Bogor Agricultural University
Bogor Agricultural University is a university based in Indonesia. It was established on 20 January 1965. The university has eight faculties and one institute offering courses related to agriculture and forestry.
History
The Bogor Agricultural University (Universitas Pertanian Bogor, or UPI) was founded in 1947 and originally known as the Agricultural University of Indonesia (Universitas Pertanian Indonesia, or UPII). It became a university in 1962 and changed its name to the Bogor Agricultural Institute (Institut Pertanian Bogor, or IPB). In 1986 it was reorganized into four faculties: Agriculture, Forestry, Plant Breeding and Horticulture. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established in 1989; this became a separate university in 1998. The Faculty of Animal Sciences was established in 2007.
International accreditation
Bogor Agricultural University is a university based in Indonesia. The university has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board (BAN PT), which is the official accrediting body for higher education institutions in Indonesia. The Bogor Agricultural University has been recognized as one of the top universities in Indonesia, based on its performance on various measures of excellence such as its research publications and citations. It also ranked among the best universities in Southeast Asia by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Rankings.
Governance
Board of Regents (BOR)
The BOR is the highest governing authority of Bogor Agricultural University, as stated in its bylaws. It consists of 13 members and it is chaired by the Minister of Agriculture. The BOR shall have regular meetings at least once a year to deliberate on matters related to the development and improvement of BOGA.
Board of Trustees (BOT)
The BOT is responsible for overseeing all activities related to finance management and administration, human resources management and organizational development at Bogor Agricultural University; it serves as an advisory body for matters concerning academic programs or other issues related to education policy planning at Bogor Agricultural University; it also monitors implementation process so that all decisions made will be beneficial for students' success

The university has a strong focus on research. It is one of Indonesia's leading institutions in crop breeding and genetics, with achievements such as developing high-yielding varieties of rice (like IR64), wheat (like JG 9), maize (like Pascasari), sweet potato (like MR-1) and corn (like Bt). Bogor Agricultural University’s Faculty of Forest Resources has also been credited with improving forest management through its Riset Polresta program that involves research into sustainable use models for forests in Indonesia. As part of this program, students are involved in projects such as monitoring illegal logging hotspots or collecting data on soil fertility levels across different regions within Indonesia.
The university has earned an excellent reputation among employers in both academia and industry as well as among other universities around Indonesia.
